Karl Heusner Momorial Hospital

About 'Karl Heusner Momorial Hospital':

The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) came into being in 1995 to replace the Old Belize City Hospital in Belize City. Founded in 1820, the Old Belize City Hospital’s initial purpose was to provide medical services for sick and deprived seamen involved in shipping. In 1871 the hospital later converted to a general hospital and continued with a series of conversions throughout the years, leading to the opening of the new hospital in 1995 and the name change. It was named in honor of Dr. Karl Heusner who was born in Belize on September 6, 1872 to German immigrant parents. Read More
